New Xbox One Backwards Compatible Game Available Now

Xbox One's backwards compatible library continues to grow little by little. Microsoft's Major Nelson announced on Twitter that one more Xbox 360 game is playable on the current-gen system, and it's a particularly notable one.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is now backwards compatible on Xbox One. The game originally launched for Xbox 360 in 2007 and kicked off the Modern Warfare subseries, which took the Call of Duty franchise out of its usual WWII setting and into more modern-day conflicts. Now Playing: GS News Update: New Xbox One Backwards Compatible Game Available Now

As always, if you own a physical copy of the game, you can now pop the disc into your Xbox One, which will initiate a download and allow you to start playing. If you own the game digitally, you will find it waiting in the Ready to Download area of the My Games and Apps menu.

If you don't own the 360 version of Modern Warfare, it is one of the games discounted as part of the big Xbox spring sale, which is underway now until April 10. If you're an Xbox Live Gold member, you can download the game right now from the Xbox Store for $15 (or $17 without Gold).

The remastered version of Modern Warfare is also on sale right now for $28. That version was originally packed in as a special edition bonus with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, but it was released as a standalone title on Xbox One (and PC) last July. It includes the full Modern Warfare campaign and multiplayer mode with enhanced visuals and audio. You can watch a trailer for Modern Warfare Remastered above.

The enhanced version is what people play now..how about MW3, that's what everyone is waiting for. Though I still have it on 360. Poor selections here. Also Dante's Inferno, Singularity, Crash TROC, Crash Mind Over Mutant, Dark Sector, even the 2012 version of Wheel Of Fortune would be great. A LOT of people would play that over PUBG, myself included lol!! At least Pat and Vanna have a stable framerate!!

@downwithsony667: Remasters at 60fps of brilliant games Xbox users never get to have and plenty of NEW IP's on the way. Go look at the list dude. Xbox can't even remaster games that run at 60fps that they DO have. No I don't hate Xbox One but i pity the system.

@rtehrani: I still use the crusty 360, and on the Xbox One 360 games take up more than half of the library of games I own!! So no point in even having one. That's why I got rid of mine, and stuck with PS4, 360 and PS3 even.

In Brasil, a sealed copy of infinity warfare legacy edition (including modern warfare remastered) is selling for about 70 reais (about 21.25).

So even the sale price is bad...

I've become too spoiled by the excellent X Enhanced titles. To me, the non enhanced 360 games are unplayable on a 4K TV. Wish X Enhancement was a standard for all new releases, backwards or not.

@khanwashere: amen bro! Virtually impossible going back to pre X enhanced Skate 3 and Assassins Creed seeing how beautiful they look in 4K. Could potentially help up the FPS for legacy 369 games that really need it too like Sonic Unleashed if that ever comes to BC

Since there is already a remake available on the system it is probably the least necessary CoD for BC.

But a nice addition for people who bought it previously. Keep'em coming!!

@freeryu: the bots are nice though, they will kill you, lols :-P

I did a lot of config'ing "Pez BOT" for MW1 & WAW on the PC, but sadly both are pretty awful, just limited concepts really that beat the crap out of any systems performance. The MWR bot plays well & is optimized
