New X-Isle GeForce3 screenshots

Crytek shows off its first-person shooter and its educational dinosaur game.

German developer Crytek studios has updated its Web site with new screenshots from its first-person shooter X-Isle and its educational game X-Isle: Dinosaur Island, which will both run on the same engine. The shots show the games running on a GeForce3, and as a result, there are plenty of special effects and a substantial amount of texture detail. Crytek says the current version of its engine makes use of volumetric shadows, per-pixel shading, and vertex shading. There are also plenty of transparency and reflective effects, as illustrated by the shots showcasing the environmental-map dinosaur and the small ponds.

A release date for X-Isle has yet to be determined. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
