Whoa.

It's not the first time we're seeing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in 8K, but a new gameplay video shows off the celebrated RPG running at super-high resolution.

Specifically, this video from Thirty IR (via Kotaku), shows the RPG at 7680 x 4320 (60fps/8k) on max settings, which is pretty wild. Features like Nvidia Hairworks, HBAO+, and "other settings" are turned on for this gameplay video. Thirty IR also says you may want to use Chrome or Edge browsers. You need to select 4320p60 on the video's settings to see in full-HD. You will need an 8K display to get the most of the video, and those are probably not in many homes. The video is more to say that such a thing exists.

This video was captured using a two-rig setup. Here's a rundown of the beefy specs for the two systems, called the "Uber Rig" and the "Asus RoG Swift (G-Sync) Rig."

Uber Rig

  • GPUs: 4x GTX TITAN Xp (2017) 4 WAY SLI @ 2038Mhz / 13358Mhz
  • MoBo: Asus Rampage V Extreme (X99)
  • CPU: i7 6950X @ 4.30GHz
  • RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 3200Mhz (64GB)

Asus RoG Swift (G-Sync) Rig

  • GPUs: 4x GTX 1080 Ti 4 WAY SLI @ 2025Mhz / 12110Mhz
  • MoBo: ASRock Extreme11 (X79)
  • CPU: i7 3970X @ 4.80GHz
  • RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR3 2133Mhz (32GB)

Last year, images showing The Witcher 3 running at 8K popped up online--you can get more details and see the images for yourself here on Reddit.

In other news, Conan O'Brien revealed that the Witcher 3 Clueless Gamer episode was his favorite because "I got to have sex on a unicorn."

This post has been updated to mention the requirements of watching in 8K.
