Sega today released the Nomadic Tribes Culture Pack for Total War: Rome II and it won't cost gamers a penny if they download it in the first week.

The downloadable content, available now through Steam, features new playable factions the Royal Scythians, Roxolani, and Massagetae. The expansion is free until October 29, after which it will be sold for $8.

"We've had more gamers playing Rome II, and for longer, in its first month than any other Total War to date," Creative Assembly studio director Mike Simpson said in a statement. "We are going to continue to work on gameplay feature balancing with our community who have been hugely helpful in feeding back on the game. Offering this DLC for free for the first week it’s on sale is a celebration and a small thank you to them for helping us make this the biggest TW yet."

The Nomadic Tribes Culture Pack also features new buildings and building chains, campaign objectives, a technology tree, and new units. A detailed breakdown of the Nomadic Tribes Culture Pack is available in the Steam product listing.

Total War: Rome II was released exclusively on PC in early September. Earlier this week, a report claimed Creative Assembly's previously announced Aliens game will star Ellen Ripley's daughter Amanda.
