Paramount Pictures has released a new promotional video for Top Gun: Maverick. The long-awaited sequel hits theaters and IMAX on May 27.

Tom Cruise has spoken at length while promoting this film about the intense preparation that included three months of flight training that was required "homework" for Top Gun: Maverick's cast of pilots. This wasn't merely a PR pitch, as co-star Miles Teller--who plays Goose's son, Rooster--confirmed in a March interview with Total Film. But why read about it when you can see a new three-minute montage of the film training below.

An official synopsis for the film is as follows: "After more than 30 years of service as one of the Navy's top aviators, Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell (Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him… Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it."

In addition to Cruise and Teller, Top Gun: Maverick also stars Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, and Ed Harris. It's directed by Joseph Kosinski, who previously directed Cruise in 2014's Oblivion.

After Top Gun: Maverick, Cruise is next slated to star in Mission Impossible 7. The film, which was repeatedly delayed alongside Top Gun: Maverick, stars Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson, Hayley Atwell, and Simon Pegg, and is helmed once more by Christopher McQuarrie. As of January this year, it was revealed that Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 will now respectively open on July 14, 2023 and June 28, 2024.
