New Switch Games Let You Point The Joy-Con Like A Wii Remote

The Joy-Con can be aimed at the screen.

The just-released Switch versions of World of Goo and Human Resource Machine demonstrate another way the system's Joy-Con controllers can be used.

In addition to holding them vertically or horizontally to serve as a traditional controller, the Joy-Con can essentially serve as a Wii remote. As seen in the video below (via Reddit), both games allow you to aim at your TV (or the system's screen itself) using the Joy-Con. Despite the exaggerated arm movements, smaller gestures seem to work just fine, too. Due to seemingly using the controller's gyroscope, a sensor bar isn't needed, as on the Wii.

Using a Joy-Con in this way first requires you to lay it down on a flat surface. Pressing the Plus button allows you to reorient its aim on the center of the screen during gameplay. This potentially allows you to orient it in a way that doesn't require you to aim at the screen itself, should you want to do that for some reason.

World of Goo and Human Resource Machine were two of three new Switch releases today alongside Little Inferno. They'll be followed tomorrow by The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+.

Wii, virtual console is inevitable and GC virtual console is all but confirmed. I just hope they don't forget about Wii U games, since there are still a few i want to play (mainly Bayonetta 2 and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze).

@darksouls: I bet it's fine, he kept it flat and moved it up and down instead of just holding it still and tilting it. He was using is very (annoyingly) wrong in that video.

Whoooo! Just what we wanted! Using the joycon like a wiimote but less accurate, you have to move way more to get it to read your movement, and you have to put it on a table to re-calibrate it! AWESOOOOOOOME!

@catsimboy: The calibration, (not re-calibration) only takes like a second. The accuracy is pretty amazing. It responds to the slightest movement, no need for the broad strokes this guy shows in the video. So you're right, man.. it is kind of awesome :D This system is slick af.
