New Super Mario Movie Poster Races Down Rainbow Road

The Super Mario Bros. movie is two months away and Illumination and Universal are gearing up the hype with more posters and promotional footage. We've seen the first full poster showing all the characters, as well as teaser posters featuring individual characters. The latest one features Princess Peach on her Mach Bike racing down the infamous Rainbow Road from Mario Kart.

We knew Rainbow Road would be part of the movie as it was featured in the first full trailer. She's being chased by what appears to be a gorilla gang on all sorts of karts from Mario Kart. It's unclear if we're going to see any of the Evil Kings from Donkey Kong Jungle Beat or if these are new characters altogether.

The new animated film is produced by Illumination, the company behind the Despicable Me and the Minions franchises, and is directed by animation veterans Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic. The screenplay was written by The Lego Movie 2's Matthew Fogel.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie features an all-star cast of Chris Pratt as Mario, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, and Seth Rogen as DK. Check out GameSpot's breakdown of everything you need to know about the Mario movie.

The film is scheduled for release on April 7, 2023.
