Hasbro has announced a set of four new Star Wars figures, but what's different about this set is the toys are based on the short-lived animated series Droids. GameSpot has a look at these figures which includes C-3PO, R2-D2, and two different versions of Boba Fett, celebrating the first time Star Wars took the leap into an animated series and also the second-ever appearance of the famed bounty hunter.

One of the new figures comes from the Black Series 6-inch scale line. That is the new Boba Fett, and the Droids look--which you can see below--is his second animated appearance in the Star Wars Universe, back in 1985, with the first being the Star Wars Holiday Special. This figure is exclusive to Target, and will cost $27. It's highly-articulated and will come with two accessories.

The other three figures being revealed are in the 3.75-inch scale, just like the classic Kenner Star Wars toys. All of these figures will retail for $16 and will be available exclusively at Target.

First up is R2-D2, which comes with one accessory and a coin. There is a 3.75-inch Boba Fett, and this figure comes with three accessories. Finally, there's C-3PO, which comes with an accessory. All of the packaging features art inspired by the animated series, and that's probably why the color scheme on Boba Fett may look a bit off to the average Star Wars fan. Don't worry, though, he still comes with the back-mounted rocket launcher.

The figures are part of the Lucasfilm anniversary, celebrating 50 years of filmmaking. The company's first movie was 1973's American Graffiti--two years after George Lucas's first feature film THX 1138, which was not a Lucasfilm production. In 1977, Lucasfilm debuted the movie that would define Lucas's career: Star Wars. However, Lucasfilm has also had some non-Star Wars releases that are of huge note like the Indiana Jones series, Labyrinth, Willow, Tucker, and more.

Pre-orders for all of these figures will go live September 24 at 9 AM ET / 6 AM PT.
