New screens: Star Trek Bridge Commander

Activision sent us a new group of screenshots from its upcoming capitol-ship space combat simulation, Star Trek Bridge Commander. The new screens show off some of the ships and weapon effects that will be featured in the game. Players will assume command of a large Enterprise-class ship, and they must investigate the cause of an explosion that destroyed a Starfleet research station. Throughout the course of the game, players will encounter Cardassians, Klingons, and Romulans, and they will eventually uncover a secret plot against the Federation.

Activision recently announced that in addition to the single-player campaign, Bridge Commander will include five different 2798849multiplayer modes , and it will support up to four players over the Internet and up to eight players over a LAN connection.

Star Trek Bridge Commander is in development at Totally Games, and it is scheduled for release this holiday season.
