Interplay's European distribution arm, Virgin Interactive, has released a few new screenshots from Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance for the Xbox. Dark Alliance is played from a third-person perspective. At the beginning of the game, players find out more and more details about a mysterious thieves' guild that apparently is very active in the catacombs beneath the city streets of Baldur's Gate, raising hordes of undead creatures, rats, and other beings.

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance is the first Xbox game to make use of the 3rd Edition Dungeons & Dragons rules. Players can choose from three different characters at the beginning of the game and then develop their character with new abilities, spells, weapons, and attributes. Like its PlayStation 2 counterpart, the Xbox version also features a two-player co-op mode.

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance is expected to ship for the Xbox in Europe this September.
