GodGames has released a new group of screenshots from its upcoming turn-based strategy game, Age of Wonders II: The Wizard's Throne, which is in development at Triumph Studios, the company that created the original Age of Wonders game. The new screenshots show off some of the new features that will appear in the sequel, including a redesigned interface, a scenario editor, and new units, structures, and maps.

Age of Wonders II will feature a fantasy gameworld similar to the world that appeared in the original game. Like the first game, it will focus on both empire building and tactical battles, and it will incorporate role-playing elements such as magical spells and items and hero units that can gain experience, skills, and levels. The new game will use an enhanced graphics engine that will use Direct3D and polygonal elevated terrain, and it will feature smooth zooming and updated particle and shadow effects.

For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game. Age of Wonders II: The Wizard's Throne is scheduled for release in early 2002.
