Ubi Soft has released a new movie and screenshots from XIII, its multiplatform cel-shaded first-person shooter. The game is based on a popular European comic book of the same name, and it follows that motif with precision. Sounds in the game will be written on the screen, and everything in the game looks like it was pulled from a cartoon.

The game will also include some innovative gameplay mechanics. Players will be able to break a bottle and use its jagged neck as a melee weapon, throw shards of glass at enemies, fire weapons while hanging from ropes, take enemies hostage, and much more. An extensive multiplayer mode will also be included, with specific maps exclusive to each platform.

Currently in development for the GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC, XIII is currently scheduled for release in early 2003. We'll have more on XIII as Ubi Soft makes it available.
