New media: Grand Theft Auto 3 for the PlayStation 2

Rockstar has released three new screenshots from Grand Theft Auto 3 for the PlayStation 2. The third installment in the GTA series features the same criminal gameplay found in its predecessors but utilizes polygonal 3D graphics. In order to gain the favor of gangs located throughout the city, you must steal cars, perform drive-by shootings, and run drugs. In addition to the 3D upgrade, the city will have a real-time weather system, three distinctive areas to explore, and plenty of pedestrians to get in your way.

Grand Theft Auto 3 is currently scheduled for release in October. We'll have more on GTA 3 when we get our hands on a playable version at E3 later this month.
