New Kirby Game Coming to 3DS, Includes Giant Robots

The final announcement during today's Nintendo Direct presentation is a new adventure for Kirby: Planet Robobot.

The game retains Kirby's signature ability to swallow up and absorb enemy abilities, but adds in giant mechanoid suits that the pink puff can use to power through obstacles and monsters.

The game will also include a four-player boss battle mode called Kirby Clash, where you can partner with friends to take down the game's biggest bosses and earn trophies.

The game will launch on June 10 for 3DS alongside a set of new Kirby-themed Amiibo. The new Amiibo will feature Kirby, Meta Knight, Waddle Dee, and King Dedede, and using compatible Amiibo will unlock special abilities for Kirby to use in battle. Some are obvious for long-time Kirby fans (Mario gives Kirby fire, Link gives Kirby a sword), but there are unexpected effects too; if you use a Kirby Amiibo, you'll give your in-game Kirby the UFO ability.
