New images: PlanetSide

Sony Online Entertainment has released two new concept images from its upcoming team-based multiplayer shooter, PlanetSide. The new images show off the futuristic vanu magrider tank unit and the vanu lasher rifle that will be featured in the game.

PlanetSide is set on a series of continents, each 64 square kilometers in area, on an alien planet. Players assume the role of mercenaries working for different corporations, and as the game progresses, they can advance in rank and gain more power.

PlanetSide is in development at Verant, the studio that created the popular online role-playing game EverQuest, and it is scheduled for release in 2002. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
