Elden Ring DLC Trailer Delves Into More Story Details

As we approach Shadow of the Erdtree's June 21 launch date, From Software has decided to tease more of the DLC's story.

Comments

From Software just dropped a new cinematic trailer for Elden Ring's upcoming DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, and it's packed with lore and details to discuss.

In the trailer, we see a battle that takes place prior to The Shattering, the big calamitic event that kicks off a lot of the story in Elden Ring. The battle seems to take place during a war that asserts the dominance that the Greater Will and the Golden Order will have by the events of the main game, and we get to see a lot of Messmer the Impaler doing what he does best, too.

Now Playing: ELDEN RING Shadow Of The Erdtree | Official Cinematic Story Trailer

Sadly, we don't see more gameplay or confirmation of what we can expect to experience when playing Shadow of the Erdtree. That said, the trailer does showcase some runes that could be a replacement for the Lost Grace resting points seen in the main game--so that might be a potential indicator toward gameplay.

Game director Hidetaka Miyazaki has said that Shadow of the Erdtree will be "the first and last DLC" for Elden Ring, making this our final hurrah into GameSpot's Game of the Year for 2022. It's shaping up to be one of the largest post-launch expansions FromSoftware has ever done (possibly just the largest, period) as Shadow of the Erdtree's map is as big or bigger than Limgrave, the first major area in Elden Ring.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is set to launch June 21 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC.
