Prokism Software announced recently that it has licensed its NetZ technology for use in the development of online multiplayer games for the Sony PlayStation 2. The company signed an agreement to join Sony Computer Entertainment's Tools and Middleware program to make NetZ available to PS2 developers. According to Prokism, the NetZ network engine's features include fault tolerance, load balancing, data extrapolation, and ease of use. It is designed to deal with the communication problems and interactivity challenges of having a large number of users on the Internet.

The company feels that its products allow developers to concentrate on producing entertaining video game products without worrying about inadequate bandwidth or latency issues.
