Netflix's The Witcher Gets Behind-The-Scenes Documentary, Which Is Out Now

A surprise extra feature on the fantasy show has just hit the streaming network.

The Witcher fans with Netflix subscriptions, rejoice: The streaming service has released Making the Witcher, a behind-the-scenes 32-minute documentary about the making of its popular live-action videogame and novel adaptation. A trailer was also released today, which you can watch below.

The new release offers insights into "the monsters, the ballads, and every bit of magic that went into bringing The Witcher's continent to life." Based on the trailer, if you have questions about Henry Cavill's training regimens for onscreen combat ("10 days of training for a fight scene that will be two minutes."), the selection of protagonists, or the wide array of visual effects on display--then this new documentary should do the trick.

Like the popular series of videogames bearing the same name dating back to 2007, the Netflix series is inspired by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski's novels. The eight-episode first season of Netflix's version premiered in 2019, and a second season is reportedly due out in 2021.

GameSpot's review of Netflix's felt The Witcher wasn't quite perfect but still had potential (and you can read a review roundup of other critical opinions here)--so here's hoping the pause between seasons helps deliver something stronger and more worthy of Geralt of Rivia.
