The full trailer for Fear Street is here. The three-movie adaptation of RL Stein's hugely popular young adult horror series hits Netflix in July.

The movies are titled Fear Street Part 1: 1994, Fear Street Part 2: 1978, and Fear Street Part 3: 1666. Unsurprisingly, given there are 3 films, the trailer is long and gives us a good idea of what to expect. Fear Street is set in the cursed Ohio town of Shadyside, where regular massacres have been happening for over 300 years. The '90s section is reminiscent of that decades' commercial slasher movies, such as Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, while the '70s-set movie has that era's familiar horror setting of the holiday camp. The final part deals with witchcraft in the 17th century and has creepy period vibes of films like The Witch. The films are clearly connected, although we'll have to wait until next month to see how exactly. Check the trailer out below:

Fear Street Part 1: 1994 hits Netflix on July 2, with Part 2: 1978 and Part 3: 1666 following on July 9 and July 16 respectively. The cast includes Stranger Things stars Maya Hawke and Sadie Sink, plus Emily Rudd (Sea Change), Ryan Simpkins (Brigsby Bear), Ashley Zukerman (Designated Survivor), and Fred Hechinger (News of the World). All three films are directed by Leigh Janiak.

In a recent interview with the New York Times, Janiak described the three-film approach as a "hydrid" between film and TV. "It's kind of a new thing," he said. "It's a mix between a traditional movie and what would be considered traditional TV. Each instalment, each part, tells its own story but it's also very connected to the next piece. That is a very exciting thing for me as a filmmaker."

The first Fear Street book, The New Girl, was published in 1989. It was followed by 50 follow-up novels, plus several spin-off series. It stands as one of the best selling young adult book series of all time. For more, find out what's new on Netflix in June 2021.
