Netflix Is Pulling All Of Arrested Development, Including Seasons It Produced

As of March 15, fans will no longer be able to stream any episodes of Arrested Development on Netflix, despite the streaming service producing the last two seasons of the hit comedy, Variety reports.

Arrested Development originally aired on Fox for three seasons before it was cancelled in 2006. Netflix was behind the series' revival when it licensed a new season in 2011, which aired on the service in 2013. A fifth and final season aired exclusively on Netflix in 2018 and 2019.

Netflix also acquired non-exclusive streaming rights to Fox's first three seasons, meaning Netflix has thus far been the only place fans can binge the entire show at once. The first three seasons are also available to stream on Hulu, which is co-owned by Disney.

This isn't the first time Netflix has had to remove one of its original series. Most notably, Netflix lost the rights to its Marvel-related series including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage shortly after Disney launched competing streaming service Disney+.

Late last year, Netflix announced that it would be losing Lilyhammer, one of its earliest original series, but a last-minute license renewal meant that the Norwegian show was able to remain a part of Netflix's library.

Once it leaves Netflix, it's possible that the last two seasons of Arrested Development will be licensed to a different streaming service. For now, season four is available to purchase digitally on Amazon Prime and iTunes, while season five is only available on Netflix.
