Netflix has announced a new animated series, with some notable credentials for fans of Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender. Aaron Ehasz, a head writer and director on Avatar, is helming the fantasy series The Dragon Prince.

In The Dragon Prince, two human princes befriend an elfin assassin and head off on a quest to bring peace to their nations. That sounds distinctly Airbender-like, between the rivals-turned-friends and kids taking on a larger-than-life mission to stop a war. That's likely not a mistake.

Now Playing: Where The Legend of Korra Falls Short

A tweet from Netflix promises more details at later this month. Ehasz and co-creator Justin Richmond will join executive producer Giancarlo Volpe (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) for a special presentation at a San Diego Comic-Con panel on July 21.

This won't be the first time Netflix farms talent from the Avatar universe. Its popular Voltron: Legendary Defender series, now in its sixth season, tapped Lauren Montgomery and Joaquim Dos Santos--both alums from Avatar and its sequel series The Legend of Korra. The streaming service turned production studio is also leaning heavily into animation recently, with series like Aggretsuko and Castlevania.
