NCsoft Corporation has today announced the North American commercial launches of both City of Heroes and Lineage II: The Chaotic Chronicle. Both of the massively multiplayer online role-playing games carry a suggested retail price of $49.99 and--after the first month of play--a monthly subscription fee of $14.95.

"City of Heroes is a groundbreaking title," said Michael Lewis, Cryptic Studios' CEO. "Not only does it give the MMORPG community an exciting and fun alternative to sword-and-sorcery games [but] it has mass appeal, because virtually everyone at one point or another has wanted to be a superpowered hero."

"Lineage II puts players right into the thick of combat," said Lineage II North American producer Aaron Rigby. "With the modified Unreal engine, you'll see, hear, and feel the full emotion of the conflict, from battle cries to the sound of clashing swords, to fire-breathing dragons, to arrows whistling through the air. It's an experience that's unmatched in the world of MMORPGs."
