Namco reveals its stellar looking God RPG coming next year for the Sony PlayStation.

Namco of Japan on Friday revealed its new Sony PlayStation role-playing game tentatively titled Kamurai (roughly translated as "the coming of god"). Players will take on the role of two uniquely different characters, a human named Kagato and a god named Fushi. You progress through the game from the characters' different points of view - one on Earth and one in the heavens. Supporting characters will have reactive AI with feelings and emotions depending on how you treat them. The game features a full 3D polygonal field map and 2D graphics for the characters.

The script is written by Kenji Terada, who has worked on Square's Final Fantasy I-III (NES) and Sunsoft's Mappet Monster (PS). Haruhiko Mikimoto, best known for the Macross anime series, is doing character design for the game. Kamurai will also feature the voice talents from popular anime and video games - Mayumi Iizuka (Misty from Pokemon), Ryo Horikawa (Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z), Kotono Mitsuishi (Misato from Neon Genesis Evangelion, Sailor Moon from Sailor Moon), and Shiho Kikuchi (Miharu Tatebayashi from Tokimeki Memorial).

Kamurai for the Sony PlayStation is scheduled for a release sometime next year in Japan. Stay tuned for a full preview next week.
