SouthPeak Interactive announced on Tuesday the development of a women's soccer game for the Nintendo 64 called Mia Hamm Soccer 64. World-champion soccer player Mia Hamm will endorse the game by appearing on the packaging and in the game's print and television ad campaigns.

Mia Hamm Soccer 64 is being developed by Silicon Dreams and Digital Creations Studios. It will let gamers select from 50 women's soccer teams of varying abilities. The game will employ a new 3D engine, which will feature custom weather patterns and a 3D crowd. Also, players can look forward to hearing commentary from Wendy Gebauer, a top analyst for the 1999 Women's World Cup broadcasts on ABC and ESPN.

"With the increasing popularity of women's soccer, we are creating a soccer video game that celebrates the skills and sportsmanship that female athletes display on the field," said Armistead Sapp, president of SouthPeak Interactive. "Mia Hamm is one of the top female athletes in the world, and we are proudto be working with her on this title."
