NetherRealm recently teased that Mortal Kombat 11 will kontinue, and today the studio has announced how with a one-two punch. The game is getting another Kombat Pack with a slate of new fighters, but you'll also be able to upgrade to enhanced next-gen versions for free.

The end of the new Kombat Pack 2 trailer gives word that next-gen upgrades will be available starting November 17, the week after Xbox Series X, Series S, and PlayStation 5 launch. Among the upgrades, it promises visual enhancements, 4K resolution, and reduced load times. It will have cross-play with cross-gen compatibility for select modes, though the announcement doesn't mention which ones. This will work across generations, though not with PC or Nintendo Switch. On Xbox, it will use the Smart Delivery feature for next-gen upgrades. However, it's still being called a "backward compatible" version of the game, so we wouldn't expect an enormous difference. This could also possibly keep the file size a little lower, however. Next-gen games are likely to be larger than our current games, and the storage capacity on the new systems isn't particularly huge.

Now Playing: Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate - Rambo, Mileena, And Rain Official Kombat Pack 2Reveal Trailer

The main meat (ew) of the announcement was the three new fighters: Mileena, Rain, and Rambo--complete with Sly Stallone's actual voice. Preorders will also get new skins for Noob Saibot, Liu Kang, and Skarlet. They're very intense, with lots of black and red color.

An Ultimate version coming October 15 will package all of the existing DLC, along with the Kombat Pack 2, for $60. If you already have all that (or you're just a big Rambo fan) you can get the Kombat Pack 2 itself for $15. NetherRealm notes that the PS5 and PS4 versions of Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate will be available digitally starting November 17, and that physical versions won't be out until January.
