Mortal Kombat 1 now enters Season 3: The Cryomancer, the iciest of them all. This latest season features new content and rewards like ice-themed character skins and Sub-Zero boss battles in Invasion Mode. Quan Chi, the newest DLC fighter, and Krossplay also arrive with this season's tidings.

Quan Chi hasn't been a playable character in a main Mortal Kombat title since Mortal Kombat X. The Netherrealm demon often stars as an antagonist in the series alongside the likes of Shang Tsung, known for his necromancing abilities and dealings with the dead. He is currently available for Kombat Pack subscribers. Those without a Kombat Pack have to wait for Quan Chi on December 21.

NetherRealm Studios has yet to implement Krossplay, but it's on the way. In the meantime, the studio added a Wi-Fi filter that matches players based on the strength of their internet connection. Krossplay comes later in February 2024 as a free update for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. While MK1 runs on the Nintendo Switch, it wasn't mentioned in the Krossplay feature at this time.

That seems to be the end of major content updates this month. In a press release, NetherRealm Studios mentioned other features to look forward to like upcoming Kameo Fighters and Invasions.

Mortal Kombat 1 is available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
