Moderngroove announced today that it has signed a licensing agreement with UK club, record label, and magazine Ministry of Sound to provide music for its upcoming PlayStation 2 game, Moderngroove Interactive. The agreement gives Moderngroove the rights to use the Ministry of Sound brand. Additionally, Ministry of Sound will supply five one-hour DJ mixes from some of the world's leading DJs for Moderngroove Interactive. The soundtrack will include current chart-topping dance tracks, underground recordings, and classic club hits. The DJs will be officially announced next week at the MIDEM music conference in Cannes, France.

"Ministry of Sound is the authority in dance music - they have their finger on the pulse of modern culture and lend the best DJ talent in the world to this title," remarked John Stroppa, president and CEO of Moderngroove Entertainment. "This is a first for the industry," continued Stroppa. "Ministry of Sound is the first label to recognize this new medium as an exciting way for artists to reach their fans."

Moderngroove Interactive for the PlayStation 2 is an interactive visual mixer that allows users to create and edit their own visuals as they are synched in real time to music. There are 80 3D backgrounds, 140 animated 3D objects, 400 original video clips, 20 controllable special effects, and 1500 unique images for use in editing. The Moderngroove Interactive DVD will contain 60 original trance, techno, house, and garage tracks. Other music sources such as turntables and CD players may be plugged into the PlayStation 2's USB port for real-time visual generation. Moderngroove Interactive also plays MP3 files stored on CDs.

"This is the ultimate party product," said Adrian Crook, executive producer for Moderngroove. "Nowhere else can you find five hours of first-rate modern music with an awesome interactive component. It really marks the convergence of two cultures that have always been a natural fit."

Moderngroove Interactive is currently scheduled for release in March.
