There's little doubt that MLB 2K9 had issues at launch, and the game took a drubbing both critically and from its vocal fanbase. Among the prominent problems in the game was strange fieldling behavior: first basemen who stepped off the bag, strange fielding errors in the outfield, and more. News of an upcoming patch has been released on the 2K Sports forum. According to the post, here's a partial list of the fixes that will be implemented in the patch:

AI Agressiveness
Home Run Totals
Fly balls in the outfield tweaked so ghastly fielding errors will be a thing of the past
1st baseman stepping off bag has been tweaked
Issues with the pitch overlay hud
Fixed pickoffs, especially to 2nd base
Roster issues as it pertains to subsituting pitchers and bench

As the forum post points out, this is just a partial list of fixes but, by the look of it, it's addressing some of the uglier issues in the game. I'm wondering if the "ghastly fielding errors" includes that strange and unnatural slowdown effect that sometimes happen when you're controlling an outfielder and chasing down a fly ball. If not, I hope its addressed at some point.

According to 2K, the patch is nearly ready for submission and approval, which puts its release out a couple of weeks from now. I look forward to seeing how the game plays, post-patch. What issues are you hoping this patch fixes up?
