In addition to an online future with its Dolphin console, Nintendo plans online aspects for the Game Boy Advance.

In a recent interview with the UK N64 Magazine, Shigeru Miyamoto talked about Game Boy Advance and revealed that it would offer unique communication technology. "Why does Nintendo have to introduce the Game Boy Advance when we have the Game Boy Color? The answer may lie in the fact that it is going to have communication technology inside it." Miyamoto added that he can't disclose what the technology might be right now, but he said, "Much closer to the launch date of Advance, we're going to make some announcements so you'll understand what I'm trying to say."

In related news, it was also discovered that the cellular-phone link planned for the Game Boy Color isn't just for trading data. "When we talk about the Game Boy and cell phones, we're talking about real-time online gaming." It was previously thought that this feature would enable trading and downloads (for, say, Pokemon), but the prospect of playing online games over the network is an intriguing one.
