Miyamoto teases new Nintendo character

How about instead of a new character, give us more of the old ones. The new Donkey Kong and Kirby game are a good step in the right direction. Still waiting on a new Star Fox though.

One of the things that's bugged me about Nintendo is that while they often come up with original gameplay ideas, it's always based off the same IPs--over... and over... and over again. It's about time Miyamoto acknowleged that (10 years!) and is potentially developing a new game.

@Spike_Cloud Would you rather have them not make any new characters at all? Then stop complaining and be happy about this. >_>

whatever character you make, stick with what worked for Mario, Link, DK, and Pikmin. stay far way from whatever influences caused you to make Wii music. anyways, its Miyamoto, and I have faith. He hasn't made anything "new" in years, so im excited to see what he comes up with

@Spike_Cloud I'm pretty sure this article was talking about characters Miyamoto himself created, not Nintendo as a whole. I could be wrong, but that's what I get from those nice little things called letters that when combined make something even more magical, WORDS. I wish more people would read entire articles before posting comments. I guess the internet is just trying to further prove my unfortunate suspicion that about 90-95% of the population is damn stupid. On another note, I never really played much pikmin but might give the next one a try seeing as the wiimote looks very well suited to that kind of game.

Nintendo had a horrible E3 this year. I personally got to handle the 3DS and walked away from it unimpressed. Nintendo is using dated technology that everyday consumers have never used/ever heard of. I applaud them for pricing and advertising well, but Nintendo is better then what they have produced in the past few years.

The new character should be a half mushroom half reptile half italian dwarf plumber half monkey half princess half kirby type thing. And it's name is Theodore.

Awesome, I can't wait to see it. It may have been nearly 10 years, but later is better than never, so there's no need to complain over this. :D They didn't have to make a new franchise, you know... :P

Miyamoto is kind of wearing on me now. I know he's created some of the most recognizable and well-received characters in gaming... but really... Sometimes you have a brain fart and you tell the board "Yup. I got nothin'."

Doubt Miyamoto will release any true hardcore character. Cant imagine Marcus Fenix in a plumber's outfit.

@Mamba219 Totally agree with you... I have no doubt that Miyamoto's next project will be very gameplay oriented and most probably very unique. This man is truly a genius. Only good things are created from him.

@berto64: They should make a sequel to Pokémon XD:Gale of Darkness. PBR just doesn't cut it for me. It's got good graphics,but it's just too stale and repetitive for my taste.

So this year we get the 3DS and a New Kid Icarus, plus all those other new 3DS games (Most Likely This Year) A new DK a new Kirby and Epic Mickey and Golden Eye and Lost in Shadow?! And next year we get the 3DS and stuff if it didnt come out in 2010 and a new Zelda, new Pikmin, new 3DS games AND a new character!? Goodness gracious. No wonder Nintendo wasnt doing much for the past few years.

This guy is really a genius...whatever he decides to make will be accompanied by terrific gameplay, I have no doubt. This is the same insane individual who brought plumbers, spoiled mushrooms, turtles, and Godzilla together in one yummy concoction.
