Not only will the subtitle change, but the release date is moving too for Mission: Impossible 8. The movie--previously known as Dead Reckoning Part 2--has been delayed almost an entire year to May 23, 2025.

The Hollywood Reporter adds that a new title for Mission: Impossible 8 is on the way in the future as well. Previously, Dead Reckoning 2 was slated to premiere June 28, 2024. However, production on the Tom Cruise-starring vehicle was paused to promote Dead Reckoning throughout the summer. Then, the Hollywood actors strike hit in July and still hasn't ended. The next adventure for Ethan Hunt probably isn't the only big blockbuster that will move out of 2024, either, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning had a record-setting start at the global box office before slowing down. The action film ultimately ended up with roughly $567.5 million but was affected by Oppenheimer overtaking IMAX screens shortly after its release. Dead Reckoning also saw pretty positive reviews upon release, in line with Rogue Nation and Fallout.

The now untitled Mission: Impossible 8 will once again star Cruise, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Esai Morales, and Ving Rhames. Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham will also appear in the sequel.
