Microsoft and 20th Century Fox on Thursday announced that characters from acclaimed TV show The Simpsons are coming to open-world sandbox game Minecraft.

Due to launch in late February for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions of Minecraft, the $2 DLC will comprise character skins for the entire Simpsons family--Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie.

An additional 19 characters from Springfield Elementary School are coming to the game. These were not named, but you can bet Nelson, Milhouse, and Ralph will be among them. Sadly (for me at least) there was no mention of Frank Grimes, or, as he liked to be called, Grimey.

In a statement, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer said Minecraft fans on Xbox have been "clamoring for [Microsoft] to bring Simpsons characters to the game."

The Simpsons content for Minecraft has been announced only for Xbox platforms, but Microsoft said in a statement that PlayStation owners should "stay tuned" for news. Microsoft, of course, acquired the Minecraft series in September, so it makes sense that Xbox fans would get preferential treatment.
