Midway kicks up Happy Feet

Game publisher signs deal with Warner Bros. to develop games based on the 2006 animated film from George Miller.

Comments

If nothing else, director George Miller's material is diverse. The Australian film vet has covered multiple genres including postapocalyptic action (the Mad Max trilogy), touching drama (Lorenzo's Oil), and family tearjerker (Babe and Babe: Pig in the City) since his first feature in 1979.

Miller's next addition to his dossier will be sitting in the chair of Happy Feet, an animated movie about a singing and dancing emperor penguin. The movie is scheduled for a November 2006 release from Warner Bros. and features the voice talents of Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood, as well as Miller's fellow countrymen Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman.

Midway today announced that it has gained the licensing rights to the film and will develop Happy Feet for "console, handheld, and PC platforms." No specific information about the game has been released.

GameSpot will have more on Happy Feet as details are released.
