Microsoft renews Killer Instinct trademark

Man I can still remember what buttons to press for finishing moves of some characters and Orchids' 20+ killer combos and 45hits Ultra. Cant wait for KI3 if that will be happening.

Honestly, if Killer Instinct 3 is a 720 title, I will definitely buy the system just to have that amazing fighting game. I am not much of a 360 fan, with being more of a PC fan, but I will buy one just for that.

I can see it now, paying for the day 1 DLC that includes half of the original roster.Also, can't it release on a platform with a decent d-pad? Like, literally any other console?

This is both great and terrible news. Great because they are finally resurrecting an amazing fighting game series. But terrible as its going to be on Microsoft platforms. I have resisted buying a 360 for a long time (nothing against the console but you dont really need both a PS3 and a 360 - as most games these days are multi-platform) But damn, if they make a KI3, I may have no choice but to buy one. If its just an HD remake, I'm still content on playing KI Gold on my N64. But seriously, if a KI3 is a possibility, I have only two requests: keep it 2D and NO KINECT!

Since it's MS, I'm guessing we'll see HD remakes of the first two games somewhere down the road. But will they make me stop playing my N64 version......

Ki was my first videogame for supernentendo :) memories of playing this with friends when I was 10 hope this releases a new version of the game and not some HD arcade version

As much as I would love a KI3, I know Rare would still find a way to **** up like they did with Banjo. This just wouldn't work because its not the same Rare anymore.

All hail Killer Instinct, to this very day Killer Instinct can still run with the best of them this game was well ahead of its time, you create a hd version of ki 1 and 2 and create an entirely new Killer Instinct 3 its all OVER, let me tell you something this game looked incredible back in the 90's and now its 2012 this game needs a much needed facelift and its long overdo. (KI 1 and 2 and hopefully a 3).

Killer Instinct 3 would make an excellent Xbox 720 Launch title. Killer Intinct 1&2 would be XBLA games. Thrown in with Killer Instinct 3 purchase.

The real question is, will we finally be able to see Black Orchid's breasts?

All they need to do is release the full arcade version of the original game and people will love them for it. I got $5 says they screw it up. Would be awesome if you bought the game off XBLA you can get the "Killer Cuts" music download.

KI3's long overdue, and at this point it still offers something different in the fighting game landscape. The question is, can they update it to something that is up to today's standards if they were to do it? Bringing back a series that has been dormant for 15 years means having something to offer for people that were fans, and offering something for the new crowd. It's not easy with a massive gap like that.

Think they'll save it for a Nextbox(or whatever the 360's successor is called) launch title? KI Gold was pretty much a launch title for the 64... came out not long after the 64's arrival.

One of my all time favorites on Super Nintendo! Music at the main menu was so epic, and the character selection was prime.

I loved playing KI at the arcades when I was young. If not KI3 at least make an HD version of the original.

Loved playing Killer Instinct in the arcade. Have been waiting for a new one ever since, it's a shame Microsoft has their say in it.

I'd love to see a new KI, but the way **** goes these days, I'm not holding my breath waiting for it!

With the stink of th emid-1990s all over it. Still awesome at the time though.

It's unbelievable that we still don't have a new Killer Instinct considering all the remakes that have been done lately. Hopefully this is a step towards a game that's long overdue.

This game had so much potential, it would reinvigorate the fighting genre. And with today's engines and graphics the potential could carry a heavy reward for gamer and developer alike.

Trying to not get excited, since it is probably to protect their bases, but I'd be happy with just a rerelease of the first two games.
