Microsoft is in negotiations to acquire Access Software, developer and publisher of the number one selling golf sim Links LS, according to sources. In anticipation of an announcement, Microsoft is said to have yanked an already 50 percent complete Microsoft Golf 2000 from the hands of Austin, Texas, developer Eclipse Entertainment.

According to sources, Microsoft is walking away from the deal with Eclipse after having already sunk $2.2 million into the project.

When asked of their plans on Monday, Microsoft had no comment. Calls to Eclipse and Access were not returned by press time.
