Microsoft Flight Simulator is adding the heaviest airplane ever created to its roster, and everyone who buys the DLC will be supporting the real-life effort to re-build the plane after it was destroyed by Russian forces as part of the war in Ukraine.

The world's heaviest aircraft, the Ukranian-built Antonov An-225, is available in Microsoft Flight Simulator today for $20. Only one of these planes was ever built. It was destroyed during the Battle of Antonov Airport in February 2022 at the onset of the conflict.

During the height of the pandemic, the An-225 was used to transport crucial medical supplies.

The airplane is 275-feet long, 59 feet tall, and has a wingspan of 290 feet. Its engines are capable of delivering 51,600 pounds of thrust, and the bird can carry up to 559,580 pounds. It has a range of 9,600 miles, flies up to 36,000 feet, and cruises at 500 mph, with a top speed of 530 mph.

In Microsoft Flight Simulator, players have access to six liveries, including:

  • Antonov Airlines 2010
  • Antonov Airlines 2008
  • Antonov Airlines 2006
  • White
  • Xbox Aviators Club
  • Aviators Club

The An-225 is available in Microsoft Flight Simulator for PC. All proceeds from the $20 DLC go to the Antonov Corporation and will be used to help re-build the plane in real life. The DLC will come to Xbox and Xbox Cloud Gaming in late March.

Microsoft Flight Simulator, like all first-party Xbox games, is available with Game Pass on Xbox and PC.
