MGS: Portable Ops held up in UK

'Problem with packaging' means the title gets delayed across the Atlantic once again.

Solid Snake has hit another snag on his way to the UK in his latest title--Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops for the PlayStation Portable. Originally due for release in Europe in April, the title was pushed back to May 4, although Konami softened the blow somewhat by announcing that the European version would feature oodles of extra content including new maps, characters, and missions.

However, May 4 came and went, and the game was still not available in stores or from online retailers. On Play.com, the game shows up as "temporarily out of stock," and Amazon UK states, "We are currently unable to offer this item... We recommend that you occasionally check this page to see if it has become available." Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops was not available as a product on Game's Web site at all, whereas on Gamestation it comes up as "Out of stock."

A spokesperson from Konami confirmed that the game's release in the UK had been pushed back again and that there was no confirmed new date for the game as of press time. He said, "There was a problem with the packaging, but I'm afraid I can't tell you anything more than that."
