Metro: Last Light DLC revealed

Deep Silver announces Season Pass for new first-person shooter that includes four add-ons for $15; first expansion out next month.

Four expansion packs are coming to 4A Games' new shooter Metro: Last Light, publisher Deep Silver announced today. Gamers can grab all add-ons together for $15 via the DLC Season Pass, available now for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

No Caption Provided

The first expansion for Metro: Last Light is the Faction Pack, which will launch next month for all platforms. It introduces a new and original single-player story that "expands on the Metro: Last Light universe." Further details were not specified.

Following the Faction Pack will be the story-focused Chronicles Pack, as well as the Tower Pack, which will "present a unique solo challenge to Metro veterans." Lastly, the Developer Pack for Metro: Last Light will give players "some interesting tools with which to explore the world of Metro."

"Artyom's story may have been concluded in Metro: Last Light, but there are other characters with stories to tell, some familiar locations that fans of the Metro series wanted to revisit, and some new challenges that 4A wanted to explore," said 4A Games creative director Andrew Prokhorov in a statement. "Since completing the game we have been working on these new stories and hope to release them throughout the summer."

Gamers who purchase the Metro: Last Light DLC Season Pass will also receive a new semi-automatic shotgun rifle called Abzats. Its secondary fire mode shoots six shells in one blast.

Deep Silver did not divulge prices for individual expansions.

PlayStation Plus subscribers can score a 25 percent discount on the Metro: Last Light Season Pass if they purchase it between May 21 and June 4 in the United States and May 22 and June 5 in Europe and the rest of the world.

Metro: Last Light launched earlier this month for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. For more, check out GameSpot's review.

I'm a fan and grateful for this game to come out, but I sincerely think Ranger mode should be included in Season Pass. Oh well, at least I got that with pre-order.

It's pretty sad that so many of you are bitching about having to pay for DLC content. Every game takes time and money and besides the game is well worth it. It's a small price to pay for some additional story telling.

I love the take on a gaming universe told by a small group of developers who put a lot of time and effort into making a great game. You should read the article on GameIndustry.Biz about the conditions in which these developers worked while making the game. Kudos to the team for doing such a great job under those circumstances.

You can't be serious. It's seems like all the games I BUY don't have a pass included with it (ex. Metro last light, max payne 3) but the games I rent have one with them if I bought it. (Ex. medal of honor, saints row 3) This freakin screws me over every time. I'm still going to buy it though :P

what foolishness... they already "taxed" the ranger difficulty so now they do the season pass bullshit??

this is fucking sad, the game's great but if they're cutting content to sell it later then i'm out

another good developer dies because the publisher is greedy as hell

hmmm should i rent it?

I hate DLC. If you paid 50 dollars, then show the customer some loyalty if your going to add content. Charge for an expansion pack, but not little tidbits, that try to milk 100 dollars out of a customer. Otherwise I just assume and wait for a month or 2 for a price reduction or Goty ed.

Think what people don't release is that $15 may go onto making an upcoming game in the future.. If you don't want to pay the extra $15 then don't and stop complaining.

4A has stated on twitter that all DLC is being finished after the game was finished. So its not like they had DLC content to roll out on release day and are holding it and charging for parts of the main story. These were planned add ons. The sense of entitlement to have all dlc included for free upon release and put in the main story because you purchased the game is ridiculous. Things getting cut from games is part of the process and so is ideas for add-ons. Giving consumers the option to get this content is a good thing and adds revenue to keep making games you like to play. But ppl gotta be all like "No I want to pay my msrp and I should get all related content now and in the future free and if I don't then don't make any new content or i'll just accuse you of cutting out pieces of the game that should have been left and charging us for them as DLC". "And if you don't make any content i'll say the game sucked and was short and that the studio ripped me off and abandoned the title as soon as it was out the door". Hey news flash you like playing games, Game company's like and need to make money. You wanna miss out on a little extra fun playing add ons for the game bcuz of your unjustified sense of entitlement that's ok we wont mind. Oh and DLC released a month or more later that has no bearing on the main story is hardly day1 dlc. say what you will dlc is here to stay and no matter when or how dlc comes out ppl will complain about it in some way/shape or form

@bakasora Yes but people, like my son, who play that game every day get tons of play time out of each of those map packs and they are well worth it to them. It's pretty much the only game he plays and lots of others are the same. Not my thing but I can still see the value in it through him.

Finished the game this week. Weak ending in comparison to Metro 2033, but overall, the game was definitely enjoyable. Will definitely consider the DLC.

@WiredDreemz The alternate ending is the proper ending. Not nearly climactic as the Dark Ones hallucinations and the tower climbing in Metro 2033, but far more conclusive and appropriate than the "bad ending".

@WiredDreemz I actually liked the ending quite a bit. It was fitting considering the world they live in and wasn't the typical stuff we usually get.

@aloufika Yup. As Dante-xero said, the developers aren't forcing anybody to purchase the DLC, and the game was a decent length for a shooter, so nobody can complain that the DLC should have been included as part of the main game.

@WiredDreemz That's the thing, DLC is never part of the main game, it is content created after the finished product is created. Are these complainers that selfish and ungrateful that they want someone's hard work for free?. They clearly don't know how difficult and time consuming creating video gamers are. It's like if you buy a car and you want some alloys with it, you have to pay for them. It's the way it is. Nothing is free when money and effort was spent creating them in the first place.

@aloufika It ain't like they're forcing you to buy it and you can't really expect them to develop more content for free. They need to feed their families aswell...

Why are people bitching ? its $15 for 4 things which is almost unheard of today, from a dev that is not an ass, and for a game that was received very well.

@MW2ismygame the publisher already milked another 5$ out of a fucking diffuclty mode so by the least they can add DLC for free (at least on PC)

hell CDPR did that, FROM SOFTWARE gave the PC users the AotA DLC for free

so why the hell not for metro last light?

@StarlightHunter @thequickshooter

it's because of this

"Gamers who purchase the Metro: Last Light DLC Season Pass will also receive a new semi-automatic shotgun rifle called Abzats. Its secondary fire mode shoots six shells in one blast."

that fucking was in metro 2033 ranger mode

so they DID cut content

@thequickshooter @MW2ismygame The Ranger difficulty mode is designed for fans of Metro. It was included as a preorder bonus because fans would preorder and so they get something unique. The $5 price tag isn't bad and if you enjoyed the game enough to want to play a harder mode then you'll probably want to support the devs with an extra $5, no?
Call of Duty 1 for PC and Battlefield 1942 released free DLC, maps, vehicles, weapons, factions for free with regular patches, and they're more hated for DLC now then ever.

@ESB I don't see it that way at all. Some games feel that way but Last Light feels like a complete game. These are supposed to be completely different stories apart from the main character's story.

Im not bitching, I'll buy it regardless, but I agree if they took some time released something that fleshed out some areas within the story, ie added more to them, aswel as other stories at the same time it would be better, I love the game I just felt the pace in some areas could have been tweaked, for instance the car on the metro tracks could have been better. as it was, it was good but could have been better, few other things too

I'm amazed that people are bitching about this DLC when they're only asking for $15 for four pieces of content. That seems like a damn good price, especially if it all turns out to be good. Last Light is an incredible game and I'm definitely willing to support 4A to deliver more of it.

@Shakezulah I second this statement. If a game clocks in at less than 6 hours, and then the developers release DLC, I would definitely complain, but 10+ hours is acceptable I would think for a shooter, so they are welcome to release the DLC to flesh out the gameworld. And in all honesty, if the DLC is not fully related to the main storyling, why add it in to the main story and confuse the core concept.

Ugh, what is it with companies feeling compelled to release DLC only a month after a game's release? Put some time into it and make it epic; we won't forget about your game in a month.
