Final Fantasy IX, the last installment of Square's Final Fantasy series on the PlayStation, will go on sale a day early at the Sony Metreon store in San Francisco. The highly anticipated RPG will be sold between the hours of 2:00pm and 5:00pm on November 13, a day before the title's November 14 release date. The first 100 people to purchase the game will receive limited-edition Vivi plush dolls and a yet-unnamed Final Fantasy IX item.

Those who do not purchase Final Fantasy IX may still receive the Vivi doll by entering an onsite contest that asks contestants to guess the amount of Vivi dolls in a large bin. A SquareSoft prize package worth over US$500 will be awarded to the winner of the contest. The prize package contains various SquareSoft collectibles, a new console, and other prizes.
