A remake of the first Metal Gear Solid game is reportedly still in development, despite Konami currently working on the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake.

According to a report from the Spanish website Areajugones, a Metal Gear Solid remake is in its first phases of development and it's one of Konami's most ambitious upcoming projects. Areajugones previously reported about God of War Ragnarok's Valhalla DLC expansion ahead of its official announcement at The Game Awards 2023.

Areajugones also mentioned that the Metal Gear Solid remake will be released on PlayStation 5 and won't be on PlayStation 4. However, this doesn't mean that the game will be a console exclusive for PlayStation, given that the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is a multiplatform release. Additionally, there's no info on which studio is handling this remake, whether it's Konami itself or an outside studio.

Konami is currently working on Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, its remake of the third entry, as well as a remake for Silent Hill 2 with developer Bloober Team. Both games are seemingly launching in 2024, although Konami hasn't officially announced any release dates yet.

While fans of the series wait, they can enjoy its first five entries through the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, which launched on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S in October 2023.
