New York game publisher Matrix Games has announced that it has teamed up with Lamb Software to publish the upcoming World War II strategy game Fortress Europe. The game is an operational-level wargame that covers the Normandy campaign from the first landings on June 6, 1944, to the Allied breakout on August 30. Players can assume control of the American, British, or German forces, and they can set up synchronized attacks where armored and infantry units wait until all assault forces are in position before launching the attack. The game uses a 3D isometric perspective and a continuous-time turn system with a pause feature and game-speed selector. It features several types of units, including armor, infantry, airborne, glider, coastal defense, naval, and aircraft. In addition, it uses a historically accurate order of battle, with units ranging from battalions to full divisions.
