Marvel's Hawkeye Show: First Images Confirm Hailee Steinfeld Is Playing Kate Bishop
Jeremy Renner stars in the upcoming Disney+ show, which is now in production.
Marvel has a variety of live-action MCU series in the works for Disney+, with the first, WandaVision, arriving next month. One of the other upcoming shows is Hawkeye. In September it was reported that Bumblebee star Hailee Steinfeld might play lead character Kate Bishop, and now this has been confirmed.
While Disney hasn't officially commented on the casting, the confirmation comes via on-set photos that show Steinfeld in costume as Kate Bishop alongside star Jeremy Renner, who plays Clint Barton. Check them out below:
In addition, Renner posted this image from the set, showing that production was now underway. In Marvel's comics, Kate Bishop is a young woman who is trained in archery, fencing, and martial arts by Barton and takes on the Hawkeye name. She's also a member of the Young Avengers team. As well as Bumblebee, Steinfeld also appeared in True Grit--which she earned an Oscar nomination for--the Pitch Perfect series, and voiced Gwen-Stacy in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Hawkeye doesn't have a release date yet, but if it's already in production, so there's a good chance we might see it in 2021. Other Marvel Disney+ on the way include Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Loki, She-Hulk, Ms Marvel, and Moon Knight.
WandaVision premieres on January 15 and stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany as Wanda Maximoff and the Vision. In a recent interview, Bettany revealed that the first episode was filmed in front of a live studio audience to capture an authentic '50s sitcom feel.
