Mario And Rabbids Switch Game Is In The Works -- Report

The plumber and the Rabbids are coming together in one game.

Most of the talk about Mario recently has focused on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and the upcoming Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch. However, there seems to be another Mario game on the horizon--and it features Ubisoft's Rabbids alongside the plumber.

Called Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, it is a turn-based RPG with local co-op coming to the Switch. Assets acquired by Kotaku apparently show Mario and other characters wielding laser guns. It's in development at Ubisoft and runs on the company's Snowdrop engine--the same engine that powers games like The Division and South Park: The Fractured But Whole.

According to the report, the game will have eight playable characters: Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Yoshi, as well as four Rabbids dressed up as those Nintendo characters.

The game was originally reported back in January by Laura Kate Dale, a journalist known for leaking information about the Switch before its release. Kotaku today reported that it had received assets that confirm the game's existence.

Nintendo has yet to announce anything officially about Kingdom Battle, but we will update this story with any new information we receive.
