March sees FFXIII, God of War III, Pokemon, Bad Company 2 sell over 1M - NPD

pokemon is boring,final fantasy 13 is the best one of its series and the best sold in march,that ive played,btw ive only played final fantasy 12 and 13, and seen 10 played at a friends house PS3 BEST,ps2 still sells,i didnt know that,xbox is good but not as good as the ps3

god of war is one of the best ever.

how the hell did pokemon became 2nd and final fantasy xiii became third, what is it lack of taste in games.

It's weird that every multi-platform game sells double on the 360 of what is sold on the PS3; and for the first time it's the opposite with Final Fantasy selling double on the PS3. Very fitting. God of War, the game is killer.

@ jofy Check the stats, the 360 is outselling the PS3 overall when you combine all the territories. The only place the PS3 is doing better is Japan, which Big surprise right? seeing as how it's their own product. I love the PS3 fans when they think they are right. the almost 6 million console lead the XBox 360 had at the PS3 launch is still there. PS3 has made little headway. Even with all the "Exclusives" Do you think it's what Sony wants? to come in last in the United States? I doubt it.

vader501st@ because FF Versus is set within the same Final Fantasy XIII universe, but it's unrelated to any other entry within the compilation and is thus neither a sequel nor a prequel to any other entries in Fabula Nova Crystallis: Final Fantasy XIII.

@jsmoke03-PS3 not selling is exactly my point. First off Sony said their main reason was because "gamers don't care about backwards compatibility". But as you stated, we all know the reason was about money. It wasn't even about cutting cost to the PS3. It was about making money on the PS2. If you sell a PS3 that can play PS2 games then you wouldn't have to buy a PS2 to play them. Also Sony was losing money on the sales of the PS3 but making money on the sales of PS2. So it would be a bad business decision on their part to hurt the sales of the PS2. How much did Sony really save by taking out PS2 compatibility, really? Think about it, a PS2 is 100 bucks which includes a controller, packaging, shipping costs etc., we're just talking about a chip in PS3's and for later PS3's just software emulation. It didn't cut their costs by 100 if by any at all. They lied to us man. Sony couldn't sell PS3's because they were to pricey, they couldn't sell PS3's because they were to arrogant to understand that the public was not going to shell out any amount of money for a device that had a Sony logo slapped on it.

@dybbuk- and when it was on, how many ps3's were selling? gamers want this and gamers want that, but when its time to pay up, they complain it was 2 pricey. sony had to cut components out to be able to compete with the prices that were out by then. blu ray was the most expensive components, but they weren't going to cut that out. its just tough luck but honestly theres nothing sony could do when they were loosing out on hardware that wasn't selling well. gamers complain too much about everything....

@giddyupgroudon: I think a more relevant question is: Why did stupid Sony take out backwards compatibility from the PS3?". Oh yeah, because Sony said people didn't want backwards compatibility. So if you enjoy firing up a favorite PS2 game now and then and your PS2 happens to break then you have to go buy a new one instead of taking that money and having the option to invest in a PS3 that could play your PS2 games. Thank for that idiotic move Sony!

I love it. I remember hearing all the Sony fans say "Wait till we get some good exclusives, then we'll outsell XBox 360!" Well you've had your exclusives, how come you are continually outsold by the 360 still? What is going to happen later this year when Halo Reach hits? lol Or Fable 3? Or early next year with Gears 3? GG Sony.. GG

This was expected, as with God of War 3, Heavy Rain, MLB: The Show, and FFXIII, the PS3 had to have a good 1st quater in software sales. what is concerning(from Sony's viewpoint) is that the 360 still outsold it, in a month were the 360 had no exclusives. MS's console exclusives(besides ME2 from jan.), are upcoming..with SC:Conviction(just released), Alan Wake, Halo: Reach, Fable 3..ect, are all due out this spring and this fall, and this is were MS will have huge software sales. Hopefully both consoles continue to sell well in 2010, and both can come close to overtaking that last generation toy called the Wii. (I own all 3 consoles, but the Wii is for my son).

Versus will be good, maybe not great. Why? Because Lightning owns pretty much any other lead the FF series had. Shame Versus won't feature the same cast as XIII. That's my opinion.

i told you guys so... after all the dust has settled, the slim ps3 has crashing down to it permanent 4th spot once again.

bleh final fantasy is dead. I had been playing it since SNES and yeah, its gone. Just bring on the new Zelda already! oh and if no one has seen what the new pokemon black and white look like go to Kotaku .com they have the first screens and it looks the same so far besides the cam being a little bit more pan down so you are no longer really looking down at a town..sorta ich...NINTENDO >:[ stop recycling!

@jb9776 - I definetly will not argue with you. You obviously know your history with games. However, I was speaking about more recent games in those franchises and which consol had/has the most games released from that franchise. Also, I was only speaking of the most popular gaming companies/the ones that are still in buisness. The last thing is that most (not all) of the games that came to the PS3 from the 360 were either in early to mid-production and/or were not franchises, just single games. (I must re-note that you have a really good memory of the old days! Good job! :D)

@ gordos24 the reason you are stating there is not a reason! ur just saying 360 ppl cop it for rrod and getting banned from live, when ppl mod their 360 they dont buy the game! the figures are for original copies not downloaded or copied so..... i tried honestly i tried but i dont get your point. b4 u go all about the ps3/360 thing i got both but im a sony fan so save it mate!

sixoneone* that would not happen they ruined the Final Fantasy XIII game by bringing it to the Xbox 360 its so damn liner its actually ridiculous you no nobody can even class that a "Final Fantasy" title Final Fantasy Verses XIII will stay exclusive to Sony reason being they paid for the exclusivity. I have both machies but i hate playing FFXIII i hope it says exclusive.

PS2 owners are some of the smartest gamers out there: 1. It is the lowest cost console available now. 2. Widest selection of AAA titles available. 3. Lowest priced games for consoles. 4. Does not require upgrading much for maximum gaming experience. and many other things, I just really don't want to go into!!

@giddyupgroudon Stupid people? The PS2 has many great titles, is affordable, and not to mention it's easy for anyone who wants to start gaming to be introduced through the PS2.

Because the PS2 has tons of great games, and because not everyone can afford PS3's and X360

#punanisher no i just didnt have enough money to buy a whole new xbox and i got caught modding which basically erased all my data, so it made more sense to get a new ps3 to play all the cool new games they were coming out with. 360 has its advantages but tis kind of expensive to get both.

we all know deep down in our hearts that the ps3 is the best.....but xbox fanboys will say that it costs way to much but that doesn't affect the performance of it does it also the graphics are much better...like uncharted killzone god of war and all the other ps3 exclusives apart from infamous witch is awesome but the graphics aren't great. and then there is blu-ray and the xbox cant play hd movies. also you will have to pay online but everyone who does will say that that is because it is much better but it is not. but games that are made for the 2 consoles have the same goodness of graphics because everything in the game is identical. also alot of ps3 games need alot of power so the xbox cant run them, like god of war and killzone and many others.

@Trathen Curious as to what makes you think that someone who owns a 360 has to get rid of it to get a ps3? Just because fanboys argue about superiority on internet forums does not mean rational people can't put both in their homes. I wanted the first Gears of War so I got a 360. I wanted MGS4 so I got a ps3. Contrary to popular belief, I didn't have to trade the 360 in for that to happen, nor did I have to get brainwashed into some ridiculous sense of brand loyalty.

what do you all think of people who were previously proud xbox owners but in the recent ps3 title release frenzy decided to switch. thats me. mgs4 was somethign i wanted forever, and heavy rain with infamous pushed me overboard i just want alan wake.

@Oozyrat: wrong, wrong, wrong, the ps3 has infamous, little big planet, killzone 3, heavy rain, just to name a few. most of the titles you list as going from ps3 to 360 ( ill give you final fantasy, and devil may cry), were never really considered ps3 exclusive. the gta franchise has made appearances on dreamcast and game boy advance and that's just the first 2. the first resident evil came out on both the ps1 and saturn and re 2 and 3 saw releases on dreamcast and gamecube. metal gear solid franchise has made appearances before on other consoles also, the only ones exclusive to sony were 3 and 4( the first one came out on gamecube as the twin snakes, and the second one came out on the first xbox), and lets not forget the series started on the first nintendo console. you mention ninja gaiden but that game started on nes, and the remakes came out on xbox and xbox 360 and were ported over to ps3! you need to learn more adout the history of video games before posting nonsense.
