Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese Reteam for Serial Killer Thriller

Paramount to produce The Devil in the White City

Martin Scorsese and his regular leading man Leonardo DiCaprio are to collaborate once more, on an adaptation of Erik Larson's bestselling book The Devil in the White City.

Deadline reported that Paramount has won an auction for the film rights to the non-fiction work, beating four other studios and acquiring a package that includes Scorsese, DiCaprio, and Hunger Games screenwriter Billy Ray.

Larson's book focuses upon a serial murderer named Dr. HH Holmes. Holmes was alleged to have killed up to 200 people, predominantly women, that he lured to a hotel that he ran during the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. DiCaprio optioned the rights to the book back in 2010, which were previously held by Tom Cruise, and Ray's screenplay is the latest of several attempts to adapt the material.

The Devil in the White City will mark the director and star's sixth film together, the most recent being 2013's drama The Wolf of Wall Street, which was nominated for five Oscars and earned nearly $400 million worldwide.
