Lego: Lord of the Rings hits Nov. 13

Adaptation of Peter Jackson's films now available for 3DS, DS, and PS Vita; coming to consoles and PC next month; Lord of the Rings Online available for Mac this week.

The Fellowship will be assembled again next month on consoles. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that Lego: Lord of the Rings is available today for 3DS, DS, and PlayStation Vita in North America, with a launch for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and PC slated for November 13. The game will debut in Europe ten days later on November 23.

No Caption Provided

Lego: Lord of the Rings is based on Peter Jackson's Oscar-winning Lord of the Rings motion picture trilogy and will follow the storylines of each film, using dialogue from the movies. Unlike the Lego Harry Potter franchise, which was split over two games, the entire Lord of the Rings saga will be told in one entry.

The game follows Frodo Baggins and the unlikely fellowship that sets out from Rivendell on a dangerous journey to destroy The One Ring and bring peace to Middle-earth. Throughout Lego: Lord of the Rings, players will enter the Mines of Moria, climb the Misty Mountains, and battle orcs, uruk-hai, and the nasty balrog.

In keeping with the staples of the Lego franchise, Lego: Lord of the Rings will be peppered with lighthearted interpretations of the source material, with gamers tasked with solving puzzles along the way. Character players featured in the game include Frodo, Aragorn, Gandalf, Legolas, Gimli, Boromir, Sam, Merry, and Pippin.

In other Middle-earth news, Lord of the Rings Online is coming to Mac five years after the game launched in 2007. Speaking to The Unofficial Apple Weblog, Turbine vice president of product development Craig Alexander announced that a Mac client for the massively multiplayer online role-playing game will be available sometime this week.

LOOK WORLD I'M GIVING PRAISE TO A GAME! That said, also notice to which class of game I am giving the thumbs up, it should mean something. And no, not just a Lego game, the goodness runs deeper.

I can't wait. :D

And since I'll still be playing this system to be mentioned, I'm getting the Wii version (c'mon, it's not like any LEGO game misses TOO much from the HD versions, outside of HD and achievements, which don't mean much at all to me).

@servb0ts Aside from the fact that LOTR is over 50 years old, the Lego games tend to base themselves upon movies. Who really wants a load of games to be remade to look like Lego?

You mean without The Hobbit, which will probably get its own game(s) later on.

@BruceWayneJr

If there is a Lego: The Hobbit game, they should have Leonard Nimoy's song "The Balad of Bilbo Baggins" playing on the title screen!

In the middle of the Earth, in the land of the Shire

Lived a brave little Hobbit whom we all admire!

Nice, lego games are always great, expecially co-op. I was just thinking the other day what would make a good lego game?? I think Xmen should be their next one.

The Vita version should be here today from Gamefly. I am curious as to whether or not it is another crappy 3DS port like Lego Batman 2 was. If so, that is super duper lame. I hope it is the same experience as the console version, but I am sure that is wishful thinking.
