Activision has released a new photo of the Lara Croft skin coming to Call of Duty later this month, prompting some to wonder if this is her new look for the next Tomb Raider game.

Lara Croft comes to Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare II through a bundle on September 9. As you can see in the image below, she sports a more classic Lara look, wielding two pistols, a blue shirt, and long braided hair. Her design also incorporates some elements from the reboot series, including her necklace.

Players can buy the Tomb Raider bundle to unlock the Lara Croft operator, as well as the Mach-5 dual pistols, the Ice Axe melee weapon, and the Mythic Defender SMG. Her finishing move is called "Play for Sport." The bundle also comes with the Tomb Buggy vehicle skin, a Tomb Raider-themed loading screen, a sticker, and an emblem. Activision hasn't revealed these yet, but that should happen soon.

The new Tomb Raider game was announced by developer Crystal Dynamics in 2022, and it's the first new entry in the series since 2018's Shadow of the Tomb Raider. That game was developed by Eidos Montreal and wrapped up the events of a new trilogy that started in 2013.

Following the announcement of the new Tomb Raider game, Days Gone director Jeff Ross confirmed he had joined Crystal Dynamics as a design director.

Whether or not this new Lara Croft design from Call of Duty will match up with her look in the new Tomb Raider game is unknown. The new game doesn't have a title yet, but publisher Amazon has said it will be a "single-player, narrative-driven adventure that continues Lara Croft's story in the Tomb Raider series."

Crystal Dynamics was acquired by Embracer Group from Square Enix in May 2022. The studio is also co-developing a Perfect Dark reboot with Microsoft studio The Initiative. The game was first announced in 2020, and The Initiative has undergone a few turbulent staffing shakeups.

There's no release announced for the new Tomb Raider game. Beyond games, Netflix is producing a Tomb Raider animated series, with Hayley Atwell voicing Lara.
