KOF: Maximum Impact announced

Teaser site for SNK Playmore's new PS2 fighting game is online.

TOKYO--SNK Playmore has opened a teaser Web site for a new PlayStation 2 game, titled King of Fighters: Maximum Impact. Only a single page with the logo has been unveiled, and no details on the game have been announced. KOF: Maximum Impact is likely the same King of Fighters title that was announced at the 2003 Tokyo Game Show, where a short trailer featuring 3D-rendered characters was shown.

The King of Fighters series is a fighting franchise that traditionally features a three-on-three team battle, and the first player to defeat all of the opponent's characters wins. The series imports a number of characters from other games by SNK Playmore, including the soldiers from the Ikari shooting game series and the fighters from the Fatal Fury fighting game series.

KOF: Maximum Impact is scheduled for release in the summer of 2004 in Japan.
