Today at Disney's D23 event in California, Square Enix announced that Kingdom Hearts III will have a world based on Big Hero 6, the recent animated Disney movie.
Square Enix also confirmed that the antagonist in Kingdom Hearts III uses the powers of darkness to manipulate the Baymax body that was left behind in the portal. As such, the old Baymax body left behind becomes a dark, heartless Baymax.
It was also confirmed that the Kingdom Hearts III world events take place after the events of the Big Hero 6 movie.
Also during the Kingdom Hearts III panel today at D23, Square Enix announced that the entire franchise has now sold more than 21 million copies.
Kingdom Hearts III was first announced during E3 2013 and is in development for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The game will be the newest numbered entry to the series since 2005's Kingdom Hearts II.
