Sony confirms third mainline entry in the Kingdom Hearts series will be released on PlayStation 4.

Square Enix has announced Kingdom Hearts 3.

Unveiled during Sony's E3 2013 press conference, the game's announcement trailer showed the protagonist picking up one of the series' keyblades. Sony has confirmed the game will be released for the PlayStation 4.

Kingdom Hearts was released for the PlayStation 2 in 2002, with its sequel, Kingdom Hearts II, being released in 2006. The series has also seen numerous spin-offs released in subsequent years.

@ziproy We can blame FFXV for that, but since KH3 is in development that means FFXV shouldn't be in development much longer so maybe we'll see it in 2014 at the earliest and KH3 will come out sometime after that.

Been waiting since I finished Kingdom Hearts II! The main reason why I bought a ps3 back in 2007 was to play Kingdom Hearts III and now its finally announced for PS3 and Ps4! Hell yeah.

Still getting a PS4, even if its on the PS3.

@DeViLzzz "EMO" LOL. The first games gave me shivers when I played them. And I never really enjoyed most Disney movies. All Disney does is insert their random characters so you aren't running around helping anonymous npcs. Best games ever, so full of positive energy. What more could you ask for?

@eaterofsouls2 Yeah, that may be why they didn't say KH3 will be exclusive because I believe it might come out for PS3 too. If it were a multiplatform thing like going to Xbox One, why didn't Kingdom Hearts 1.5 remix get a release date for the X1 or 360? Nomura said he wanted all of them on one system.
